Bills Mafia donates to pediatric cancer organization in honor of Luke Knox

(WIVB) – One of the things Bills Mafia is known and loved for is how they give back.

After a longtime fan heard about the sudden and tragic passing of Luke Knox, the brother of Bills tight end Dawson Knox, this fan knew exactly what to do to support the family.

“As a direct message from Bills Mafia to Dawson: We’re here to support you, we’re behind you every step of the way,” Bills fan James Keller said.

Keller told News 4 he wanted to find a way to make sure Knox heard that message loud and clear. Keller took to social media on Thursday, encouraging Bills Mafia to donate $16 — Luke’s Florida International University football number — to PUNT Pediatric Cancer Collaborative, an organization Dawson is heavily involved with. .

“I have a brother of mine…I couldn’t even imagine losing him, so I can’t imagine what Dawson is going through,” Keller said. “Given all the time he’s put into organizing and making sure he embodies everything the Buffalo Bills are, I just feel like he’s one of those guys – it is the art of the community.”

Donations of $16 quickly turned into $16.88, combining the figures of the two brothers.

“Sixteen dollars is a few hospital parking vouchers, and when families have no way to pay for parking, those become like gold,” said the association’s executive director, Gwen Mysiak. .

In a single day, Bills Mafia raised over $130,000 for PUNT, and that number continues to climb.

“We will work closely with the Knox family to ensure these resources are used in the way they would like to see them used in honor of Luke,” Mysiak said. “…We are a grassroots organization that relies on public support, so these resources are going to be a game changer.”

Many Bills Mafia members leave heartfelt messages with their donation. Mysiak said the organization would share them with the Knox family.
