Position Summary

TCC Group is currently in growth mode and is therefore researching and developing new ways to leverage our current assets and take us to the next stage of our organizational life cycle. In our efforts in this regard, we are looking for a seasoned senior executive with deep experience in social sector consulting and an entrepreneurial spirit and skills to join our company as a Deputy Director, Organizational Strengthening.

In this role, the Deputy Director, Organizational Strengthening will contribute to our business development efforts by leveraging their extensive experience and deep relationships with a range of foundations, nonprofits and/or corporations. Together with organizational leaders, they will lead and create teams to develop and deliver a range of organizational strengthening services, such as assessments, capacity building programs (in collaboration with donors, consultants and organizations not-for-profit), personalized tools, products and services. , and other client advisory missions, to the social sector (institutions, coalitions, etc.).

TCC Group has offices in New York and Philadelphia and will primarily seek candidates in these locations; however, we will consider qualified applicants from other locations in the United States who are comfortable with regular travel to New York and frequent domestic travel.

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Business Development (45%)

  • Bring business to the company by identifying potential clients, overseeing proposal writing, leading sales meetings and “closing the deal”.
  • Represent the company by speaking on panels at conferences and serving on committees of infrastructure organizations and professional networks.
  • Bringing positive attention to the business by serving as a “thought leader” in the field by publishing articles, articles, blogs and disseminating knowledge.
  • Refine and update a vision for the organizational strengthening service, including desired social impact, priority audiences, capacity needs, and growth trajectory, in coordination with other firm leaders.
  • Develop an annual service operating plan and ensure strategies are implemented and targets are met.

Product development and commercialization (15%)

  • Play a key leadership role in the development and implementation of TCC Group marketing strategies, particularly related to organizational strengthening.
  • Oversee the development and commercialization of related products, tools and services through the development of business plans, market testing and continuous evaluation and improvement. Tools (available on our website) include CCAT, FCCAT, Relational Capacity Tool.

Top Customer Commitments (25%)

  • Act as project manager on multiple projects. Understand –
    • Supervision, development, monitoring and integral involvement in all aspects of the consultancy assignment, work plans and project budgets.
    • Supervise research and conduct interviews as needed.
  • Manage client relationships through regular communications and meetings, prepare and deliver client presentations, and write and edit client reports and other communications.
  • Oversee the design and field dissemination of quantitative and qualitative assessment tools.
  • Plan and facilitate board meetings and other stakeholder and observer meetings.

Business and Team Leadership (15%)

  • An integral member of the company’s leadership, sharing responsibility for ensuring the company’s financial health, human asset nurturing and social impact goals are achieved.
  • Build an organizational strengthening service team – manage and/or support recruitment of team members.
  • Oversee, mentor and invest in the growth of the service team – includes appropriate training and professional development of the team, as well as other organizational retention efforts.



  • Advanced degree (MBA or MPA) in organizational development or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 15 to 20 years of experience in the social sector and/or advising donors and associations.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years in a management role with proven success in organizational and team leadership.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years in a supervisory role – managing multiple employees, directly and/or indirectly; as well as employee mentoring.
  • A strong professional network in the philanthropic, non-profit or corporate social responsibility sector, with demonstrated success in leveraging this network to increase the visibility of a project or organization.
  • A passionate visionary and experienced “thought leader” with a proven track record in developing, designing and delivering effective organizational building content (for workshops, conferences, articles, etc.) and services to the sector social.
  • A change manager – forward thinking with a deep understanding of the complexities of a rapidly changing social sector; and demonstrated ability to oversee, create and develop new opportunities, and enhance TCC Group’s strong reputation for building/strengthening systems and sectors.
  • Demonstrated customer service and analytical mind – demonstrates intellectual curiosity, creativity, strategic thinking and a strong desire and ability to work with a wide variety of clients and situations.
  • A skilled communicator and public speaker – Demonstrated facilitation and communication skills (written and verbal), as well as strong interpersonal relationship building skills (with internal and external stakeholders at all levels).
  • A dynamic team leader/builder – well versed in team building/rebuilding, delegation, prioritization/reprioritization and effective conflict resolution.
  • A commitment to growth, excellence and the firm’s inspired and nurtured workforce.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to our New York office and other parts of the United States for business.


  • Previous experience building/leading a business organization or initiative.
  • Previous experience leading or working on a team leading an organizational restructuring.

TCC Group offers a competitive and fair compensation package. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance, a 401k pension plan with employer matching, disability insurance, life insurance, generous paid time off, and more. The salary range for this position is $175,000 to $230,000, depending on experience.
