Living Sky School Division Announces Organizational Plans; trustee Hiebert retires

“I am honored to serve as Chairman of the Board once again. I believe our school division does great things for students and I am so honored to be a part of it,” she said. “Locally, elected councils are essential because they give voice to our communities; they play a very important role in education.

For Shaun Weber, who represents North Battleford, this is both his second year as a director and vice-chairman of the board.

“I look forward to continuing the good work the division is doing and building on the progress made over the past year,” he said.

Longtime administrator Hiebert, who represented North Battleford, has officially resigned from his position. Hiebert’s last meeting was on October 26. His resignation was formally accepted at the November 9 board meeting.

“It’s been a routine for 12 years [coming to meetings], exchanging views and ideas with remarkable people,” he said. “I appreciate all the support that Ronna [Pethick] and advice provided.

Hiebert told the board after accepting his resignation: “You are doing very important work – and I know you have our students, our staff and our communities close to your heart.”

The board will then begin planning how to fill the position left vacant by Hiebert’s departure. The question will be discussed at a future board meeting.
