NBA rumours: High-ranking people in Sixers organization interested in Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant has yet to find a new team in the NBA. The ill-fated Brooklyn Nets superstar has asked his team for a trade but so far he remains at the Barclays Center. He’s been linked to several teams, including the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors, and even the Golden State Warriors.

While some of these teams seem to have their chances of landing the two-time NBA champion, another team could make a surprising move for KD, moving him away from Brooklyn and pairing him with one of the league’s best players and a former teammate.

According SNY’s Ian Begley, some people within the Philadelphia 76ers organization are looking favorably on a potential KD arrival. It’s surprising, but the Sixers have the assets to unlock negotiations with the people of Brooklyn.

Besides Boston, who else is a legitimate Durant suitor?

As various outlets have reported, Miami and Toronto are among the teams interested in Durant. It’s fair to assume that nearly every NBA team has checked in with Brooklyn in some way regarding Durant.

Something to note: At the start of this week, there were high-ranking members of the Sixers who were strongly convinced to engage with Brooklyn in a Durant trade.

Something good about this is that KD apparently sees the Sixers as the desired landing spot, which could make things easier for both parties.

It’s unclear if Brooklyn and Philadelphia have made any recent progress on a trade.

Previous reports indicated that the Suns were at or near the top of the list of teams Durant would like to be traded to. An off-season trade with Phoenix seems unlikely due to the signing of DeAndre Ayton. What shall we do now? Well, it should be noted that in addition to Boston, Durant also sees Philadelphia as another welcome landing spot, according to people familiar with the matter.

The Sixers have built a strong team heading into the 2022/23 NBA season, led by Joel Embiid and James Harden. Maybe they’ll have to part ways with Tyrese Maxey to get the Nets’ attention, but right now that seems unlikely. If they are lucky enough to land a superstar like KD, maybe these people will push and make the trade happen. KD with Embiid and Harden could be good, but we have to sit back and wait for what the future holds for all parties.
