The esports organization is developing its own game

What an announcement! The 100 Thieves esports organization has been around since 2017 and has since had a string of major successes in several hugely relevant esports titles. Additionally, the organization of well-known founder and former professional Call of Duty player Matthew Haag, better known as Nadeshot, has become particularly known for the powerhouse content creators who work for the 100 Thieves brand. They are also already involved in the areas of lifestyle and clothing.

Now they want to take it a step further and share the biggest announcement since the company was founded with the public, Nadeshot explains via a Twitter post. There he says that you are now focusing on developing your own video game. The game, which has the working title “Project XIt’s supposed to be the next big challenge for Nadeshot and the 100 Thieves and will most likely be based on old multiplayer hits. Project X is developed with its own creators, its own professionals and its own community.

It’s behind Project X

According to the announcement, the basic idea refers to nostalgic memories of the days when you would come home, then jump as fast as you could to the current game of your choice and have fun with your friends for hours. Whether it’s Halo 2, a racing game, Call of Duty, Pokémon or StarCraft, all of these titles exude a certain energy and bring back positive memories.

100 Thieves want to take advantage of these moments so they can laugh with friends again and search for trophies that only a few players have. Nadeshot has been thinking a lot about this time in his past lately, and looking back, it’s these games that pushed him to make video games his career.

According to Nadeshot, the 100 Thieves video game is the biggest announcement since 100 Thieves was founded in 2017. Since then, the company has celebrated numerous esports successes and created great content for the community. Every few years, he took a big step in his career, going from competitive gamer to content creator, finally to entrepreneur.

We still don’t know any more details about the game Nadeshot and the 100 Thieves will be making. As already mentioned, it seems extremely likely that there will be an extended multiplayer game. But the associated genre could be many things. The organization employs esports teams in various games such as Apex Legends, Call of Duty, Fortnite, League of Legends, and Valorant.

Many of these games are shooters, but other genres also seem possible at the moment. More recently, however, Nadeshot fell deeply in love with Riot Games’ hero shooter Valorant, which just might be a sign that the 100 Thieves game might also be in the first-person shooter genre.

Big project, little concrete

In a nearly nine-minute video, Founder and CEO Nadeshot speaks with John Robinson, President and COO of Thieves. In it, the two explain that they have been philosophizing on exactly this idea for about two years and are already partly working on it. However, for a long time no one would have believed that the project would actually be feasible. However, the plan became more and more concrete, until finally the decision was made to develop an entirely clean game for the next few years.

By involving creators, professionals and the community, they want to create a uniqueness that has never existed before in game development. That way, the project’s chances of success would be maximized, Robinson points out in an interview, which he can see and hear in full below.

Haag and Robinson talked a lot with each other about the crucial factors for good games. The focus is often on maps and matchmaking, but also on network code and other factors. But beyond the CEO and COO, there are many creative people in our own ranks who bring interesting ideas to the game design space. Now we want to make use of this requirement.

The 100 Thieves team is now joined by new Chief Product Officer Pete Hawley, whom Robinson has known for many years, specifically since they worked together at EA. For example, Hawley was known for his work as executive producer on Burnout Paradise. He has also worked on other well-known projects like Fable, Killzone or Little Big Planet.

As already mentioned, there is still little concrete to report on the game. You are at the beginning of a long journey that you want to take with you in the community.
